Craft Ideas

Hawai'i theme

For Statehood day, I made an Iolani Palace milk carton craft

You have to use your imagination a little, because the Palace is wider than it is tall (unlike a single-serving-sized 1/2 pint milk carton)

The tower on the end overlaps (or you can cut one off when you're cutting out the craft)

One page makes two!

Friendship Theme Crafts: Here's a list of fun ideas shared

in response to my call out for a friendship craft idea:

Friendship Bracelets...Here's a few variations on this classic:

     *fruit loops & string

     *pony beads & elastic cord

     *cut straws & colored yarn

Friendship Wreath:

     http://www.dltk-kids.com/crafts/friendship/mwreath.htm

Friendship Quilt:

*Each child gets 1 large piece construction paper

*make a creative collage with various arts & crafts supplies

*hang in a quilt pattern on a bulletin board/wall with sign:

"Make New Friends & Keep the Old"

Friendship Card Exchange:

*each child gets 1 pre-printed card with either: "You are a

splendid Friend Indeed!" or "Thank you for being my Friend"

*give 5-10 minutes for time to decorate cards and write name inside

*each child places card in "Friendship Mailbox" (wrapped box with one side

with a thin slit marked "IN" and other side with a large hole marked "OUT")

     *shake box for dramatic effect

*after each child has placed card in mailbox, have them line up and

take out one from 'OUT' side, reading the name of their new friend

*keiki either wave to or give a hug to their new friend :)

(Brenda from Kalihi shared this one, which was a huge hit at Hawaii Kai, too!)
